The Encanto Kitchen on Brighton Road, Sutton, has closed, citing financial difficulties. Its owners are contacting customers with bookings and hope a new owner takes it on.

The Encanto Kitchen, the Mexican-inspired restaurant at 6-7 Station Parade, Brighton Road, has closed. The restaurant announced it on its Instagram account on the evening of Thursday 29 October. (The Encanto Kitchen on Instagram)

The owners gave the reason plainly:

“Unfortunately, due to the financial difficulties the restaurant has been facing, we have reached a point where we are simply unable to continue trading.”

The closure came with almost no warning. The day before, the restaurant had posted that its Christmas menu would start on 27 November, and invited customers to book their Christmas celebrations. It had also been promoting a two-course set menu on Tuesday evenings that week.

If you had a booking

The restaurant says it is working through its bookings and contacting customers one by one. It said every remaining affected booking would be contacted by Friday 30 October, and apologised “for the short notice and any disappointment this may cause, especially to those who had special occasions planned with us”.

Could it reopen?

Possibly, but nothing is agreed. The owners wrote that they “remain hopeful that the restaurant may have a future under new ownership, although nothing has been confirmed at this stage”.
