  • Sutton Council
  • Sutton BID, the business improvement district for Sutton town centre, which trades as Successful Sutton
  • KIPPA BID, for Kimpton Industrial Park

(Sutton Council, Sutton Business Awards)

Nominations opened at noon on Monday 22 June. The council’s page gives the closing date as Sunday 20 September, with judging in the week from Monday 21 September. Successful Sutton’s earlier announcement had given 6 September, so the window appears to have been extended. (Sutton Council, Sutton Business Awards; Successful Sutton)

The council puts the borough’s economy at more than 8,000 businesses and 3,954 registered commercial properties. It counts seven district centres and 29 local centres across its 20 wards. (Sutton Council, Sutton Business Awards)

What the organisers said

Councillor Jake Short chairs the council’s Housing, Economy and Business Committee. He said: “We are so excited to bring these awards back to Sutton and showcase the incredible, diverse organisations that make our borough a dynamic hub for growth, following a fantastic response of 550 nominations.”

He linked the awards to the council’s new Economic Growth Plan and Inward Investment strategy.

Patricia Park, chief executive of Sutton BID, said: “For our retail, leisure, and hospitality sectors, these awards are a fantastic way to build closer links with residents.”

Colin Newton chairs the Kimpton Industrial Park Proprietors Association. He said the awards “ensure that our vital industrial sectors get the high-profile recognition they deserve for driving local employment and economic growth.” (Sutton Council)
