Sutton's Christmas markets: the High Street market on Friday 27 November, Carshalton Frost Fair on 5 December and three more fairs, with times and entry prices.
Sutton’s Christmas market season starts on Friday 27 November, when the Northend Market holds its Christmas market on Sutton High Street from 10am to 4pm. The biggest single event is the Carshalton Frost Fair on Saturday 5 December, 1pm to 6pm, back after a year off. Three more dates are confirmed in the fortnight after that, and one regular fair in Cheam has not yet been announced.
There is no council-run Christmas market in the borough. What Sutton has is a run of one-day markets and fairs organised by the town centre’s business district, charities and volunteers. Every date below was read on the organiser’s own page on 3 October 2026.

Sutton High Street, Friday 27 November
The Northend Market is the small-business market that sets up on Sutton High Street near Waterstones on the last Saturday of each month, sponsored by Successful Sutton, the town centre’s business improvement district. It brings in more than 30 traders selling handmade, upcycled and locally produced goods. Its own listing gives the Christmas date as a diary note: “Northend Market Dates 27th November High Street (Waterstones) 10:00 16:00 CHRISTMAS MARKET”, with “more details to follow” (Enjoy Sutton, The Northend Market).
Two things to know about that date. 27 November 2026 is a Friday, not the market’s usual Saturday. And it is the last Friday of November, which is when the BID’s Christmas weekend on the High Street has started in each of the last two years. In 2025 that weekend began at 4pm on Friday 28 November, and the BID says “over 40 Sutton based businesses formed part of our Market over Friday and Sunday”, alongside a stage, street food and the lights switch-on (Enjoy Sutton, The Lights are on!). The BID has not yet said the same will happen this year. What we know about the switch-on is on our Sutton Christmas lights page, which we will update when the programme lands; in 2024 and 2025 it was published on 4 November.
Carshalton Frost Fair, Saturday 5 December
The largest Christmas event in the borough. EcoLocal, the Carshalton charity that runs it, gives the 2026 date and time as Saturday 5 December, 1pm to 6pm, around Carshalton Ponds (EcoLocal, Wallington Farmers’ Market and events). It took 2025 off, so this is its first outing since 2024. Entry to the fair is free.
When it last ran, stalls came from the Wallington Farmers’ Market and the Eco-Fair traders, there was a hog roast and a bar with mulled wine and hot cider, and paid extras for children inside Honeywood Museum and the Ecology Centre grounds. The full 2024 line-up, prices for the grotto and the trail, and the parking near the ponds are on our Carshalton Frost Fair page.
EcoLocal is also looking for performers for the afternoon and invites visitors to come in Victorian dress or festive costume and promenade around the fair (EcoLocal).
Sutton Mencap, Wallington, Sunday 6 December
The learning disability charity Sutton Mencap holds a Santa’s Grotto and Christmas Fair at its base, 8 Stanley Park Road, Wallington SM6 0EU, on Sunday 6 December. It is billed as a family event with a grotto and a raffle, and entry is free. The times and grotto bookings were not published on 3 October: the charity says “more details and Grotto bookings coming soon” (Sutton Mencap, Santa’s Grotto and Christmas Fair).
Wallington Farmers’ Market, Saturday 12 December
EcoLocal’s monthly farmers’ market is the last chance for local food before Christmas. It runs on the second Saturday of every month, and its published 2026 dates end with 12 December, 9am to 1pm, outside Wallington’s Old Town Hall and in the Library Gardens, Woodcote Road (EcoLocal, Wallington Farmers’ Market). The November market is on Saturday 14th, if you want two runs at it.
Cheam Village Christmas Fayre: not announced yet
Cheam has held a village Christmas fayre on a Friday in December for at least two years, with Father Christmas in a grotto at Whitehall Historic House. The council’s booking pages show it on Friday 6 December 2024 and Friday 12 December 2025, both times with 15-minute grotto slots from 3pm and £5 per child, including a present, paid at Whitehall’s front desk on the day (Sutton Council, Cheam Village Christmas Fayre 2025).
There is nothing for 2026 yet. The council’s events listing ran only to 28 November when we checked on 3 October, and no fayre was in it. On the pattern of the last two years, the 2026 fayre would fall on a Friday in early to mid December. We will add it when it is published.
Santa, if that is the point of the trip
Sutton Mencap’s fair has a grotto, and the Frost Fair had one inside Honeywood Museum when it last ran in 2024. The Cheam fayre has one at Whitehall when it runs. Every grotto in the borough we have been able to verify, with dates, prices and booking, is on our Sutton Santa’s grotto page.
Getting there
The High Street market is a short walk from Sutton station; the car parks closest to the north end of the High Street, with prices and free periods, are on our parking in Sutton page. Carshalton Ponds is five minutes’ walk from Carshalton station, and the car parks for the ponds are listed on our Frost Fair page. Check our Sutton roadworks and travel page before you set off, and our Christmas train travel page for engineering works on the lines into Sutton in December.
