Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. Sutton's civic service moves war memorial each year and the 2026 venue is not named yet: every service is here.

Remembrance Sunday 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November. Armistice Day is the following Wednesday 11 November, and Sutton marks both: a wreath-laying at a war memorial on the Sunday, and a two minutes’ silence in Trinity Square in the town centre on the 11th.

The detail most people want, which memorial the Mayor will be at, is not published yet. Sutton Council has put out its Remembrance list in the first week of November in three of the last four years, so expect the 2026 version around Wednesday 4 to Thursday 5 November. This page will be updated when it lands.

The civic service moves every year

There is no fixed venue for the Civic Act of Remembrance. The council rotates it around the borough’s war memorials, which is why searching for last year’s location gets you the wrong place. From the council’s own news pages:

  • 2022: Belmont War Memorial, Sunday 13 November
  • 2023: Manor Park War Memorial, Sunday 12 November, 10.55am
  • 2024: Worcester Park War Memorial, Sunday 10 November, service from 10.45am
  • 2025: the War Memorial in Cheam, Sunday 9 November, 10.50am

The 2025 service was conducted by Reverend Dr Nicholas Peacock and was followed by a service at St Dunstan’s Church, Church Road, Cheam (Sutton Council, Remembrance Sunday 9 November 2025). The 2024 one at Worcester Park was conducted by Revd Hannah Thomson, Vicar of Christ Church with St Philip (Sutton Council, Remembrance Sunday 10 November 2024).

On that four-year pattern Belmont, Manor Park, Worcester Park and Cheam have all had a turn, so Carshalton, Wallington and Wrythe Green are the ones that have not. That is an observation about the rotation, not an announcement, and the council has never published a running order for it.

The services across the borough

Every memorial listed below holds its own service on Remembrance Sunday, whether or not the Mayor is there. These are the 2024 and 2025 lists, published by the council and by ward councillors. Times for 2026 are not confirmed.

The council’s 2023 list also named Worcester Park, Cheam Common Road KT4 8QJ, and Sutton, Throwley Way SM1 4AH, and gave Belmont as Station Road SM2 6DF and Wallington as Acre Lane SM6 7NU (Sutton Council, Remembrance Sunday 12 November 2023).

One caution on Wallington. The council’s 2024 list gives the Wallington Green memorial as SM6 0AA, the 2025 ward listing gives SM6 7NU, and the council’s 2023 list called it “Wallington, Acre Lane SM6 7NU”. Those are not the same spot. If Wallington is your service, check the postcode against whatever the council publishes in November rather than against this year-old material.

Armistice Day in Trinity Square

The Wednesday event is the steadiest fixture in the borough. An Act of Remembrance is held at 10.50am in Trinity Square, Sutton, on 11 November whatever day it falls on, with the two minutes’ silence observed at 11am. It has run in the same place, at the same time, in every year the council has published: 2022, 2024 and 2025 all name Trinity Square at 10.50am, led on behalf of St Nicholas Church, with Martin French conducting the choir from Sutton High School. The Mayor attends. Trinity Square is SM1 1DU, a two minute walk from Sutton station.

Getting there and parking

None of the borough services has published a road closure for 2026. The Belmont event is the only one the council has ever described as a parade, and even that has not appeared in a traffic order we can find. Anything that changes will show up on our Sutton roadworks and travel page, which we update through the autumn.

Carshalton War Memorial sits at the west end of the ponds on the High Street, where parking is tight on a Sunday morning; the nearest council car parks are Carshalton High Street SM5 3AP and The Square SM5 3BN. Trinity Square has no parking of its own and the town centre car parks are the practical option. Our parking in Sutton page has the current tariffs and the free periods, which are not the same in every car park.

Poppies

Collections run in the town centre and at the supermarkets through late October and early November. The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal takes online donations year round, and the Wallington poppy planting the day before Remembrance Sunday has run as a community event in recent years.

What is still to come

  • The council’s 2026 Remembrance list, naming the civic memorial and the times. Expected the first week of November, on the council’s news pages.
  • Individual memorial times for 2026. Most are set by the churches and branches that run them, and most repeat the previous year to within five minutes, but none is confirmed.
